6) A WINNER OF THE VEGETARIAN RESOURCE GROUP 2017 VIDEO CONTEST

Rachel Massey stated, “I am interested in vegetarianism because it is a healthy, animal friendly, and exciting diet. I have always had issues with eating meat, and ever since I switched 5 years ago, I have been very content with my diet. I've been able to convince some friend to become vegetarian, and now I want to make a video to try to inform more people about vegetarianism.” See: [ http://www.vrg.org/veg_videos.php#Massey ] The deadline for the next VRG video contest is July 15, 2018 See: [ http://www.vrg.org/videoscholarship.php ] For information about VRG's College Scholarship Contest, see: [ http://www.vrg.org/student/scholar.htm ] To support The Vegetarian Resource Group scholarships and internships, donate at [ http://www.vrg.org/donate ]

7) TRES LATIN FOODS: NOTICE OF VOLUNTARY RECALL OF SELECT VEGAN PUPUSAS THAT MAY CONTAIN DAIRY

From Tres Latin Foods Team:

Dear Friends,

We wanted to let you know that we are voluntarily recalling three batches of our product (Kale & Pinto Bean with “Best By” date of 062018 and 062718 and UPC number 8-54430-00247-5, and Black Bean & Sweet Corn with the “Best By” date of 061918 and UPC number 8-54430-00237-6).

This voluntary recall is due to the possibility that some cartons within these batches of Vegan pupusas may have been mispackaged and could contain another pupusa flavor that contains cheese. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to dairy should not consume these products. Although we understand the problem is not extensive within these batches, we are recalling the full batches to ensure the safety of our consumers who have dairy concerns.

We are offering full replacements or refunds for these products. Please contact us at

[email protected]
or call (720) 613-TRES 9-5 PM Monday — Friday MST with replacement & refund requests or with any additional questions.

We will continue to partner with our co-manufacturer to uphold our standards for safe and quality products.

You can find out more here:

Thanks,
The Tres Latin Foods Team

9) FROM THE WARSAW GHETTO TO A LIFE OF COMPASSION PRESENTATION: NOVEMBER 29TH, SIXTH & I - HISTORIC SYNAGOGUE, WASHINGTON, DC

Alex Hershaft is one of the few remaining voices who can personally and vividly attest to the experience of the Holocaust. And he is one of the only such voices who can undeniably relate that experience to the plight of farm animals.

Recently named by VegNews Magazine as one of the four most important figures in the history of the veg-advocacy movement, Alex has told his dramatic story in front of large crowds in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, New York City and most recently Philadelphia. This will be an opportunity to experience his presentation in Washington D.C.

Tickets include:

  • A reception with delicious vegan hors d'oeuvres.
  • Alex's presentation about his moral evolution from Holocaust survivor to farm-animal advocate.

"As a Holocaust survivor with a riveting and inspirational personal story, he adds to that a unique and incredibly powerful perspective and voice on the rights of animals not to be raised for food. I wish everyone could hear the presentation that I did." -- Richard Levin, attendee, "From the Warsaw Ghetto to a Life of Compassion," May 15, 2015, Baltimore, MD.

Event information:

Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 6:30 PM
