VRG in the News

Nutrition Advisor Suzanne Havala was interviewed by iVillage for a story about raw foods diets, and by Consumer Reports magazine for an article about grocery shopping. Sue also was a guest on <www.voiceamerica.com>, the internet talk radio program, discussing trends in vegetarian diets.

Nutrition Advisor Reed Mangels was interviewed by Natural Health News, a monthly publication available in natural foods stores and supermarkets, on the subject of raising vegan children. She also co-published two papers in the June 2001 issue of Journal of the American Dietetic Association: "Considerations in planning vegan diets: Children" and "Considerations in planning vegan diets: Infants."

VRG's Consumer Research Manager Davida Gypsy Breier was a guest on the NPR show Public Interest. The topic was "Food Labels" as it pertains to vegetarian foods. This call-in show also had spokespeople from The American Dietetic Association and Edward and Sons (a natural foods manufacturer), and also featured Ashish Mahendru, the lawyer representing Hindus in Texas in the recent lawsuit against McDonald's. VRG Presents at Meeting on Adolescent Nutrition

Nutrition Advisor Reed Mangels gave a talk on teenage vegetarians for the New York State Nutrition Council's meeting on Adolescent Nutrition. The meeting drew 240 health professionals and educators. VRG also exhibited at the meeting, distributing nutrition education materials and samples of Vegetarian Journal.
